Upon graduation from seminary in June, 2001, in October, 2001, Pastor Nathan was assigned to serve the people of Wayman African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bloomington, Illinois. While in the Bloomington-Normal community, Pastor Nathan served the community well by fighting against gang and drug violence, serving as a guest columnist for the city’s newspaper, and serving the community through the many boards he had the opportunity to not just sit on; but serve on. He hosted Barack Obama and Michelle Obama on several occasions during Obama’s bid for the US Senate.

Joining the Michigan Conference

Pastor Nathan
Having proved his work at Wayman AME Church, in October, 2005, while at the Fourth Episcopal District Planning Meeting, Pastor Nathan learned that he would be transferred to the Michigan Conference, to serve the people of Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lansing, Michigan. While in Lansing, MI, Pastor Nathan & Lady Rolanda served the people of Trinity well for almost six years. While there, so much was done, new ministries were started, (Women of Worth, Senior Saints, Mime Ministry, Knitting & Crocheting Ministry, etc.) the worship experience made more relevant, and many guest were hosted, (Martha Munizzi, Dr. Jamal Harrison-Bryant, Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, Bishop John R. Bryant, Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram, Bishop Samuel Green, Sr., Bishop Philip R. Cousin, Sr., Bishop James L. Davis, etc.).
While at Trinity AME Church, Pastor Nathan went on to further his education, and in May, 2009, he received the Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. His research focus was educating the leadership of the church on hip-hop and the need for the church to embrace hip-hop and the hip-hop generations. The title of his dissertation title was: Hip-Hop and the Black Church: Healing a Generational Divide, Towards a Theological ‘Collabo’.
While in Lansing, Pastor Nathan had a historic opportunity to serve as the Mid-Michigan Faith Based Coordinator, for the Obama for President 2008 campaign. This position entailed, mobilizing the faith community of Mid-Michigan and praying on several occasions before President Obama spoke on his many visits to the Mid-Michigan community.
Pastor Nathan has seen the favor of God in his life. With an apostolic mantle upon him, he believes that God is up to something! He believes in the power of prayer, and while at Trinity, he led a daily devotional and prayer call at 6:30am, M-F. Pastor Nathan is very familiar with what it means to truly trust in the Lord, for it was in 1986 at the age of ten, when Pastor Nathan underwent major surgery to remove a tumor from the right side of his brain. The surgeons, communicated to his parents the possibility of partial blindness, paralysis, and even dwarfism; but the surgery was a success, and with the help of growth hormone, Pastor Nathan stands “head and shoulders” above the crowd at a height of 6’ 4” tall.
